  I don’t think this is by all means an apple to apple comparison. iTalkBB by far is the best service for any Chinese in US who have a strong tie with China:

  1. China Phone Number - allow friends call back from China for free. Only iTalkBB has this feature!!!
  2. $24.99 gives unlimited calling to US, Canada and China, TW, HK plus unlimited call back from China. If a customer make significant calls to China, the saving is huge as this plan covers local, LD and international calls.

  Actually if you followed on my blogs, I think the best option is VoipStunt, calling to China and US is all free (up to 20 hours, reasonable for me to call my parents and brother).

  My comparison is based on the features that I’ll use - don’t really care about the Chinese call back number, that said for me, two options compared:
  iTalkBB: $25+$67=$92 (unlimited call to US, China, HK)
  voipstund:$67 (20 hours call to US, China, HK, Taiwan etc)
  and I choose voipstunt.

  I heard a lot of complaints for ITalkBB. No dial tone, can not hear clear and so on. All of those symptoms are true, because I experienced all of those for mine. But I am a happy user now. Why?

  Because I don’t have those problem anymore. The phone is very stable and reliable. ItalkBB did anything to me, NO. I did little thing about my network. The secret is that: almost all of us connect our ITalkBB adaptor to our router which connect to other computers as well, sometimes this phone adaptor get duplicate IP address while your network computers got reboot. when you got duplicate IP address, off course your adaptor will not work, The result of that is THERE IS NO DIAL TONE. The permanent solution is that you have to do IP Address reservation. I know most of us are computer expert, therefore this should be done easily. This solution should fix the no-dial tone problem forever. I did it, it works perfectly for me.

  I have to declare that I don’t work for ITalkBB, the solution is not from ITalkBB tech support ( I figured it out by myself). It is so funny that when I had this no-dial tone problem, the tech from ItalkBB can not help me at all, they even ask me to get out of italkbb if I don’t like it . Again this IP phone service is highly depends on your reliability of your network. If your network is down, of course you will lost your this phone service. My personal experience is that Verizon FIOS is the best broadband and it available in Herndon area. COX cable broadband is not that good.

  Laopang and group of experienced iTalkBB users,
  please give me your comments. I have iTalkBB, and have been in queue with iTalk tech support for 2 hours this morning (then they hung up), and have been on hold for 30 minutes this afternoon. I have given up hope of reaching someone.

  Facts:
  1) I have a ATT Yahoo DSL, which works almost all the time.
  2) The modem connects to a LinkSys wireless G router–at this time, all computers and the iTalk phone adapter are connected by ethernet cables to the router
  3) The iTalkBB line has a dial tone almost all the time–not a big problem
  4) About half the time, I will dial out, and then hear nothing–no ring, no pickup, no voice. Complete silence. My call is received by the person on the other end, but I cannot hear anything at all.
  5) Can you guys recommend a troubleshooting procedure or solution? I am now certain I will get no help from iTalk.

  I would love to dump the phone company and go completely with IP phone, but it is NOT reliable, at least for me.

  Please let me have your comments.

  several suggestions for your problems.

  1.Reset your high speed internet connection.
  2. update the firmware of your router.
  3. if you have your laptop on with wireless connection on, try to turn that off when you making calls.

  Unplug or shutdown your modem, router, phone adapter. Wait for 40 s - 1 m. Then power up modem. Wait for 40 s - 1 m. Power up your router if you have one. Wait for another 40s - 1m. Turn on your phone adapter. This will fix all your phone issue. The primary reason that you have to wait is for network to clear all duplicate IP addresses if exist.

  By default, your phone adapter, computers, any instrument connected to network directly will be assigned an IP address by your modem/router. This is called DHCP IP address. The number assigned to your phone adapter could be changed. Sometimes, duplicate IP address could exist in your network. The so called permanent solution is to assign a static IP address to your instrument. For how to set up a permanent IP to your phone adapter, check your Linksys adapter manual!

  I have used iTalkBB at a friends house to call to Taiwan and the sound was excellent. My friend swears by the excellent service. However, he has never had a service related issue and had to call for assistance. I decided to transfer to iBBtalk but know that my cable provider, Comcast, has serious service issues in my area. While attempting to get answers from their Service Department as to the problems I experience with comcast at my house I was 100% turned off by their horrible support service. I spent 4 hours on the phone and was transfered 8 times, each time being placed on hold between 15 to 25 minutes. The English line was staffed by individuals who spoke English very poorly and their english comprehension was not exsistant. The hold messages were in Chinese not English. While this company may provide excellent service to native speakers, they have a long way to go in improving their customer support line attract English speakers. My neighbor even spoke to them in Chinese and he came away feeling their attitude is take it or leave it. He said their phone manner was very arrogant and typical of mainland Chinese.

  We have terrible experience with ITALKBB.

  Quality is bad. many days of un-reimbursed interrupted services and they have to mail a new box.

  After we canceled service (we prepaid for one year and after one year, the service was cut off and we called them to cancel), ITALKBB blocks all calls from ITALKBB customers to us.

  After they tried to get use to use their service again, we turned it down. Then they said the equipment (the small box) need to be returned or we will be charged. We said that when we signed up, the equipment was free. But if they sent us a shipping label, we can mail it back.

  Several weeks later, we did not receive the shipping label but a letter from a collection agency saying that we owe ITALKBB $104.98

  ITalkBB is very unreliable. We have been Italkbb customers for 2 years and seriously consider canceling the service.

  Their China call back numbers change a lot. Sometimes works and most of times don’t. Got worse this year. We call the customer service multiple times and finally ITalkBB admit they have issues with China telecom and China telecom is block their China call back numbers. That is why those call back numbers usually work for a few days then don’t work anymore. Stay away from them if you can.

  I’ve been with italkbb.com for more than 2 years now. Like it very much since it’d saved me lots of money, comparing to my local phone bills + long distance calls (domestic and international calls).
  Yup! The sound quality wasn’t good and sometimes got disconnected while talking on the phone. Hey, nothing is perfect!
  However, I just realized italkbb did not support those China 5 digit numbers, such as China EMS phone numbers, when I need to call.
  Since I don’t call overseas a lot now because my whole family members are in the States, I’d like to switch to the cheapest company called ‘MagicJack’ next year. I just bought one for my dad and he said it was great (much faster and clearer than Skype and no disconnection while talking on the phone).

  My experience witn iTalkBB is a nightnare. Their promises are lies, they are sweet and nice until you fall into their trap then they are obnoxious. Their service quality is poor, no dialing tone half of the time, and drop calls frequently. If you happen to make a call to uncovered area, the fee is much more expensive than regular phone company. Try to cancel you service, it is next to impossible. To those who are happy with the service, be aware, I wish you could say the same after you cancel their service one day.
  Also, when you have a home security device, don’t let iTalkBB tell you it would work with their system, it does not, no voip phone works reliably according to the security company. When I asked T-Moblie this question, they honestly told me that it may not work a lot of times. I wish one day iTalkBB would stop cheating their customers, would that ever happen?

  ItalkBB is absolutely the worst company I have ever used! I am glad that I am finally off their customer list, after much effort to cancel my service plan. They would keep charging your credit card for a full year without your permit, even though I told them I would like to cancel after my plan expires. To canecl is almost a pain, I made lots of calls and on hold for long time and much argument with the customer service before they finally removed my account. Stay away from them. They do business absolutely with no respect for their customers, too many traps, too ugly once you want to discountine-as if you were on a pirate ship, cannot go off!!!!

  iTalkBB Cheats all their customers include some of the customer above who gives iTalkBB positive comments, by inclrease 10% of the charge even without let their customers know. They charge additional $35.40 per year to all their exist customers as well as new customers. They just charge to all customers’s credit card account without alert their customers. Also, the phone number that they assign to all the customer has to change all the time because these number are not permitted by Chinese local telephone company. All customers please be very careful that this could be a way that the company try to get all money before they file the bankrupcy.

  I definitely will discontinue their service after one year. Now they start charge $2.95 extra over the yearly plan which had been paid in full last Sept. I heard that it is very difficult to cancel their service, so I am thinking of changing credit card number to get rid of them.

  Cancelled their service today and it took over 2 hours. Their cancellation department has no direct line, and you can’t access it from the automated phone service.

  The automated phone service offers almost no help besides the extremely basic questions like “I have no dial tone”. If you try to punch other numbers to hope and hit a “secret” choice to get you an operator, you’ll just get disconnected. The only customer service line you get is if you go into the “Technical Problems” selection and ask for an operator. Even then, you’re on hold and every 15-30 seconds you’ll be asked if you want to leave a message (#1), keep waiting (#2), or hang up (#3). In a span of 4 minutes, I had to press option 2 twelve times. TWELVE.

  And when I actually got to the operator for technical problems after two hung up calls, she had to redirect me to a mandarin-only department of cancellations. So for those who don’t speak mandarin and need to cancel their service, tough luck. My customer service representative suggested “Go find someone that can speak mandarin for you”.

  I tried to complain to the manager in the end about this terrible ordeal, but he wasn’t in (yeah right) and he doesn’t have a direct line you can call him on. iTalkBB’s customer service is absolutely terrible.

  You do not have to wait for one year when you want to cancel iTalkBB phone. Just call that company and let them know you would like to cancel the service. Then return their adapter back.
  iTlalkBB is breach their contract by increase $35.40 per year while they initially promised $299 a year includes all tex & fees. Is there any lawyer there will interested this classical lawsuit? The best way is stop the service and get all money back before iTalkBB files the bankruptcy.
  The next possible way is to ask their customer service dept. to remove that charge since that is beyond the initial contract. or this is breach the contract

  ItalkBB is the worst company I have ever seen in telemarking. Their people just keep harassing people without any shame.

  They keep calling me all the time with different people from different areas. Sometimes they called me evey single day from different people with different caller IDs. sometimes the same person call me twice daily because they forgot they already called me earier that day, and then called again.

  Every time I got their phone call, I told them that I have registed with no call list and ask them to remove my phone number from their calling list. However, they just keep calling me as usual.

  So I told the caller their phone calls are harassment and it is agaist the law. But they ignore my waring and keep calling.

  iTalkBB callers are the most shameless people I have ever seen and heard.

  I was not a iTalkBB customer and I will never be their customer because I got enough harassment from them.

  Sometimes, when I talked with my local friends on the phone and the phone line quality was really bad, they told me they are using iTalkBB line.

  I want to write my bad experience here to tell people BE CAREFUL with iTalkBB!

  2 months ago I became an italkbb customer. Since then many friends are upset with me that I chose such poor quality phone company. When they first started to complain about the constant, sharp, keyboard pressing noise I did not take it seriously until my friends, who took my suggestion to use italkbb, called me. The irregular noise was so loud it hurt my ear. We have been calling italkbb for 2 months. Their ‘tech department’ told us that the problem is our network, which is high speed cable network.
  We have been calling them for the problem but the customer service department asked us: what do you want us to do for you?
  Do not use italkbb. The ads on their website is not true.

  I have been using iTalkBB for about 2 weeks and so far I just love it. Good call quality, excellent customer service, and good features. The only problem I have is the voice mail. I am still working with their technical support (which is very responsive) on this. In fact, this is the most responsive support have ever received - no waiting time at all!

  I can basically write a 10-page complains about iTalk BB. After one year land line (for home) service with iTalk I’m so glad that my contract is expired. The poor connections, customer services and unauthorized transfer my phone number to others during the contract just name a few, make me believe this company shouldn’t be in telecommunication business at all.

  Most of the consumers may not realize that iTalkBB is a Chinese operated company. The operations mainly happened in China. That’s the reason you received phone calls late at night, sometimes really late. I’ve been informed them don’t call me at this crazy hours but it still happens.

  Please keep in mind, running the telecommunication business in America cannot gear towards to only Chinese consumers. The majority customers are still American speaking English. So iTalkBB has to adapt to the cultures here and provide customers with Western courtesy and management. Train their customer service staff with proper manners, and most important of all, English speaking so people can understand.

  Vbuzzer is an unethical company. Check their BBB score (F rating with complaints about unauthorized billing).

  They changed their service to begin billing me $2.50 “administrative fee” per month. Then automatically billed my credit card $10. Of course, I never expected to be charged like that because I had no idea my account was being debited for a new fee.

  The interesting thing is, my credit card had expired a long time ago. The people at vbuzzer had to experiment with the different expiration dates to get the $10.

  There is no way to delete my credit card information from their site. Nor any way to cancel my account. I fear I will have to ask my credit card company to cancel the card just so vbuzzer will stop charging me. (Of course, I am also disputing the $10).

  I would never recommend vbuzzer. They don’t seem honest.

  Vbuzzer is employing deceptive marketing practices to gain revenue.

  My credit card information was required to try the free credit and complete the signup process. The offer specifically said that there was no obligation to purchase anything or to continue using it after the 7 day period. I have cancelled my subscription yet my card was charged and the details of my card are still stored on my account on the VBuzzer site.

  By these actions, VBuzzer has shown blatant disregard for the Competition Act, specifically 52(1)(a) of the Competition Act - misleading representations and deceptive marketing practices, by advertising that customers can claim a free $5 calling credit.

  Attached is the email I received outlining the offer. It states, “You don’t need to pay anything for it”. VBuzzer has already wasted my time and duped numerous North Americans with this bogus offer. I have repeatedly requested that that they credit my card account with the $10 that they took without my authorization, express or implied, and then delete my credit card and personal information from their servers. They have inept support staff working on my case who take days to respond and then accuse me of using the $5 credit. I did use the $5 credit and I am not disputing that. What I am disputing is their illegal use of my credit card.
