The world is flat - again
January 11th, 2006
if you haven’t read the book “the world is flat” as we recommended before because of having no time, check this online video version out. It is part of MIT OpenCourseWare that recorded Friedman, the author of the book, gave a speech covering a big portion of the book at MIT. He is a good speaker, funny and down to the earth.

hey thanks for recommending the video. I haven’t read the book but after watching the video I’ve decided to grab one. This is an issue close to the heart of every person caring at all about his/her future. It touches on so many fronts, not just business, technology, politics, but one’s own daily life. During the talk I kept thinking about what our children’s life would be like in such a flat world. And it’s not just a matter of using products made in China, or sending tax forms to India. If she would be pursuing a career that we would never have heard of, just as we’ve never heard of “search engine optimizer” today, then how do we prepare her for the challenge, what is the most important discipline? Imagination is surely among the top qualities but what about people skills, learning different languages, etc. those that can help in a collaboration environment? It definitely takes a lot of thinking. Absolutely a good topic.
