No more chance - before the final stanley cup game

June 18th, 2006

At the end of the game 6, I saw Edmonton fans chanted “Carolina sucks, Carolina sucks” at the backdrop during an NBC postgame interview.

It was an embarassing game, indeed. - Canes players looked so tired to move from the 1st minute of game 6, so weak when playing physical, so frustrated when get shots blocked, so inefficient when trying to captalize the man advantage favorible power-play, so unorganized when trying to kill the oponent’s power-play.

This is exactly the opposite of the Hurriances vs Edmonton in the beginning of final best of seven series. Hurricanes were able to calmly recover from a 0-3 deficit in early game 1 and made the finally winning goal (4-3) by the captain at 32 sec before the game eneded.  They were very calm when they fell behind; they were the most efficient in the league to make goals during power play; they killed 29 of first 30 powerplays by Edmonton’s.

That hurricanes start to disappear since late game 5, and are totally gone by game 6. The return of legendary Erik Cole, a super star of the team and US Olympian, didn’t inspire the return of mighty Hurricanes.

If Hurricanes wants fans chanted “Carolina Rocks! Carolina Rocks” and claim the Lord Stanley cup, they just need to be themselves, and that change must be quick because there is no more chance.
