Dare to compare: cost of living
June 9th, 2006
Not sure where my blog readers are from, in case you are from US, and in case you get a salary increase, you prob wonder how much your new salary at your location is equal to the salary at Raleigh, NC, use this calculator to find out: (assume you are from LA area)
In case you are really lazy to click the above link, here is the summary:
- To maintain the same standard of living, your salary of $50,000 in Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina should increase to $78,866 in Los Angeles-Long Beach, California
- Stated another way, it’s 57.7% more expensive to live in Los Angeles-Long Beach, California than Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, North Carolina
No wonder on my last flight from BWI back to RDU, we see family with noisy kids all over the place, we cannot even take a nap! (as we were complaining about the kid, I’ll soon have one too, oh well)
