Impressive DOA 4

DOA = Dead or Alive, DOA4 is the latest installment in the DOA series. Wow, this is so far the best looking and the most visually entertaining game I have played.

It truly made Jane and me feel worth the experience of buying the xbox360. The game developers put so much attention on the details , e.g., you can see the hair of each character moves accordingly, and depending on the clothing material, some dresses reflect the surrounding lights, these details make everything so realistic!

some fun parts of the game:
you now can interact with the surrounding of each fight scenes, e.g., in Vegas street flighting, character can actually be hit by a car, and that can cause damage.
the water CG rendering is very realistic, it uses raytracing technic and complex differential equations, now I always volunteer to be kicked into water so that I can enjoy fight in the water.
the ending movie after finishing each character can be hilarious, especially the movie after you finish Zack.

overall, I am very impressed with the game, definitely will recommend to any DOA fans..

not so impressive xbox

I played with xbox 360 for a few hours with two 360 games that I collected (Perfect Dark Zero and NBA 2k6). Maybe already spoiled by my Nvidia 7800GT video card with AMD 3200+, I cannot really say xbox360 is “amazing”, of course, my PC itself costs much more than the xbox. major things that I want to complain:

  • hard drive too small, only 20GB (consider now the low end ipod has 30GB HDD) and no easy way to upgrade in the future consider it is a SATA drive.
  • very noisy, the fan to cool IBM PowerPC and ATI chipset is just too loud, much worse than xbox1
  • the media player sucks a great time.. the DVD play quality is awful, and it doesn’t support any video codec other than mpeg2, so no divx/xvid play, and it doesn’t even allow stream video from regualr windows XP (unless you own a windows XP media center)

well, I still put very high hope for the upcoming release of dead or alive 4(only available on xbox360), which is the true reason that I bought xbox360, five days to go!

Yahoo alert rocks ;)

yahoo’s RSS feed alert is very handy, compare to googlealert, it allows you to register an alert to monitor any updates to an RSS feed. so if you like to monitor my blog, go to http://alerts.yahoo.com select “Feed/blog” and put my RSS feed in it and you will get yahoo msg alert or email alert when there is new post on my blog.

fun facts about google

Google employees give overwhelmingly to Democrats (98% to Dems). Seems they only hire liberals.
