Greatest show on earth? I doubt it

Yesterday we went to RBC center at Raleigh (aka home stadium of NCSU basket ball team) for a “Greatest show on earth”, a circus show, according to the website here, it is 134th edition. Sorry I couldn’t take any good quality picture, not because I forgot my equipments, but they refuse to let me in unless I shelfed my 10D with 200L with rediciulous reason that it is too professional.

The show is ok, but by no means the “Greatest”. What impressed us most is the guy “Crazy Wilson” whoe has several skills to show off, first is driving a gyroscopic Pendulum (it is huge, 40′+ feet), the only energy source of the show is gravity, which is a pretty innovative design. then you will see this guy drives a motorcycle inside a big shining steel sphere (I remember i saw this when I was in middle school) with a group of crazier people.

What is worth mentioning is there is a Chinese acrobat group show, it lasts about 10 minutes, which in my mind, is the most difficult part of the show, in that you cannot see that performed by any other country man. The animal part of the show is below my expectation, elephant show is kind of silly, and is far inferior to the Thai elephant show that we saw in a small thai village. Then the lion show is not worth of mentioning, they simplfy performed some simple exercise like sitting on a chair and does nothing that shows the full intelligence of this smart thing.

During the whole show, we used Canon SD200, the autofocus is pretty much useless in the dark environment. 80% of the photos turned out of focus. We do find the video function of the camera is pretty handy in some situation where photo is not powerful enough :) .

What a cool product: Epson P-2000

In researching for a PSD substitute for my Tripper, I end up with in love with this cute gadget,: Epson P-2000. Seems Epson get a right product to fill in the niche market: digital photographers. Make sure you click the interactive demo link on this product page. link

This device really shines at:
1. good battery life, it is equiped with 2300 mAh battery, which is good for six-eight 1G card transfer, definitely enough for a few days at my current shooting speed. (normally I shoot with RAW, usually 2G/day). Well, I have seen people successfullly DIY extended battery with AA battery, which is cheap!
2. large AND FINE screen, let me quote dpreview.com,

giving a resolution of 212ppi at 262,000 colors. You certainly can’t see any pixels with the naked eye, and the quality is simply amazing.

3. built in Mpeg4 movie and mp3 music play… this is really nice add-on, although I doubt I’ll use that. spec says it can play Divx/mpeg4 etc for 3 hours, maybe I’ll try it when my laptop batter is out.
4. large 40GB storage for photos, and with CF/SD interface built in, it uses 2.5 in hard drive, so I can swap for a 100GB HD whenever I get extra money to burn.

wow.. what a wonderful gadget, I sure hope to get this thing before my Swiss/Italian trip this may so that I don’t need my laptop in my luggage.
